For the Curious

Most of us have seen this:
Hyde Karaoke Matthew's Best Hits

So how does it compare to the original?

The Checkers, ジュリアに傷心

(The Checkers found by B and her Japanese teacher).

Hyde's version is very close to the original, but I liked the karaoke better. Maybe I'm delusional, but I think having Hyde sing it gives the song a more 'rock' feel. I was paying more attention to Matthew's, Ken's, and Hyde's antics than listening. Bad Banana.

By the way, 'Mersmerized' is a great place for Hyde news. I stumbled upon it recently (similar to how I found out about J-rock in general) and found this site to be informative, entertaining, and helpful.

Thank you for your positive comments!

I have to admit to liking the Karaoke but then I love Hyde's voice (and antics) or I wouldn't be here, ne?

Plus the Boy George costumes on The Checkers just make me laugh too much.

Should have added Kudos for Musing for setting up this page, doing most of the posting and inviting me to be a part!

Yeah, Musing!

Yeah, when I watched the performance, I was trying to hold in laughter (it was pretty late at night).

Yay for Musing!~ :D

Definitely prefer Hyde's version, but I am completely and unabashedly biased, so there is that to consider :o)

Hyde's voice is huskier and conveys emotion so well. The Checkers lead singer has a nice voice, but Hyde's voice draws you in.
